All measurements in inches, taken on the garment laid flat — chest is half the circumference, so double it to compare against your own chest measurement. Body length runs from the high point of the shoulder to the hem at the back. Tee sleeve is measured from the centre back neck, over the shoulder, to the sleeve hem; hoodie sleeve from the centre of the neck down.
Care. Machine wash cold, inside out, with like colours. Non-chlorine bleach only when needed. Tumble dry medium for tees, low for hoodies. Do not iron the print.
Between sizes? These are a classic cut, not slim — most people take their normal size. Size up if you like room, or if you are buying a hoodie to layer.
Built in 1946 on pilings over Commencement Bay, three decks tall, it cost $262,000 and Tacoma called it the boat that didn’t float. There was a sunken dance floor lit around its rim, an orchestra Tuesday through Saturday, moorage for twenty visiting yachts and a seaplane taxi on Sundays. The Daffodil Festival Queen was crowned there. If you went to a Tacoma prom between 1946 and 1977, there is a fair chance you went here.
It burned on the morning of April 3, 1977. Not an accident — eight one-gallon cans of paint thinner, and a man who went to prison for first-degree arson. He was later named in a federal indictment as a hired torch for a Pierce County protection racket that brought down fifteen people, the county sheriff among them. The burned pilings stood out in the water for more than twenty years. There is a bronze model of the place on the Ruston Way walkway now, built on the original pilings.
