All measurements in inches, taken on the garment laid flat — chest is half the circumference, so double it to compare against your own chest measurement. Body length runs from the high point of the shoulder to the hem at the back. Tee sleeve is measured from the centre back neck, over the shoulder, to the sleeve hem; hoodie sleeve from the centre of the neck down.
Care. Machine wash cold, inside out, with like colours. Non-chlorine bleach only when needed. Tumble dry medium for tees, low for hoodies. Do not iron the print.
Between sizes? These are a classic cut, not slim — most people take their normal size. Size up if you like room, or if you are buying a hoodie to layer.
Washington state printed as one solid block of navy, with 253 cut straight out of it so the numbers read in the colour of the shirt itself. Along the bottom edge of the state, in silhouette: the Tacoma Narrows Bridge with its towers and suspension cables, the Tacoma Dome, and Mount Rainier standing behind them, with evergreens worked into the texture. One ink, weathered finish, and legible from the far side of a car park.
The 253 is younger than most people assume. On 27 April 1997 the old 206 was cut into three: Seattle kept 206, the north and east side of Lake Washington took 425, and everything south — Tacoma, the western half of Pierce County, the bottom end of King County — became the 253. Being handed a new area code felt at the time like being asked to sit at the other table. It took about a fortnight to turn into a badge.
