All measurements in inches, taken on the garment laid flat — chest is half the circumference, so double it to compare against your own chest measurement. Body length runs from the high point of the shoulder to the hem at the back. Tee sleeve is measured from the centre back neck, over the shoulder, to the sleeve hem; hoodie sleeve from the centre of the neck down.
Care. Machine wash cold, inside out, with like colours. Non-chlorine bleach only when needed. Tumble dry medium for tees, low for hoodies. Do not iron the print.
Between sizes? These are a classic cut, not slim — most people take their normal size. Size up if you like room, or if you are buying a hoodie to layer.
The design reproduces it rather than tidying it up — the leaning building, the plastic board reading $1.00 CHINESE FOOD, the fortune cookie. It is printed on white so it reads as the sign itself rather than a picture of one.
Nobody set out to build a landmark here. A sign said the same thing at the same freeway for long enough that it turned into one, and now several hundred thousand people a week know it without ever having pulled off to eat there. It is a fixed point on the drive south, the way a water tower or a bridge is.
That is the joke and also the affection. Everyone who has driven I-5 through Pierce County has a moment of recognition with this sign, and almost nobody has been inside.
